The ‘medium’ of language may be performed, edited, repeated, crescendoed and silenced, as a means of expressing and locating one’s self. However, language may not, as American text-painter Mel Bochner has argued, be ‘transparent’. Language is unforgiving, no matter how hard we try to form clarity, we cannot materially replicate the translucency of unexpressed thought - language has permanence and demand, but not necessarily an answer or resolution.

 

Oh Yeah Right Cool Thanks is a mixed media drawing installation and audio performance, part of Brady’s research into the materiality and affect of language within the realms of post-punk and lo-fi aesthetics.
